Minesweeper pattern trainer: five puzzles that teach you to stop guessing

· 1 min read

Small interactive Minesweeper puzzles built round the 1-2-1, the 1-2-2-1, the 1-1 at a wall and more. Flag the mines, mark the safe squares and get every answer explained.

Good Minesweeper players don't count every square. They recognise a handful of shapes in the numbers and know the answer at a glance. These five puzzles each teach one of them. Flag the squares that must be mines, mark the ones that must be safe, and leave the rest alone: knowing what you can't know yet is part of the game.

Minesweeper pattern trainer (interactive)

Small Minesweeper puzzles built around the patterns experienced players spot instantly (1-1, 1-2, 1-2-1, 1-2-2-1 and corner patterns): mark the squares that must be mines and the ones that are safe, and get each answer explained.

The patterns in one line each

  • 1-2-1 along a flat edge: mines over the 1s, safe over the 2.
  • 1-2-2-1: mines over the two 2s, safe over the 1s.
  • 1-1 at a wall: the square after the pair is safe.
  • 1-2 at a wall: the square only the 2 can see is a mine.
  • Corners: work outwards from the number that sees the fewest hidden squares.

Take them to a real board

Blibzz Sweeper's boards are built so they never need a guess: every square can be worked out from the numbers. There's a Daily board too, the same for everyone, so you can compare times with friends. For chording, the 1-1-1 and more, read Minesweeper patterns.
