Return to player and volatility, explained

Every coin game on Blibzz lists two numbers on its page: the return to player (RTP) and the volatility. Together they tell you more about how a game will feel than anything else.

Return to player is the share of everything staked that a game pays back over a very long run. Lucky 7 Slots has an RTP of 95.85%, which means that across millions of spins it pays back about 95.85 coins for every 100 coins bet. The rest, 4.15%, is the house edge. For a table game the same idea applies to each bet: the pass line in Vegas Craps returns 98.59%, a European roulette bet 97.30% and an American one 94.74%.

The important words are "over a very long run". RTP says nothing about your next spin or your next hour. In a short session anything can happen: you might finish far ahead, or lose your stake in a few minutes. RTP describes the average across all players and all spins, not what any one session will look like.

Volatility describes how a game spreads its returns. A low-volatility game pays small wins often, so your balance moves gently. A high-volatility game pays less often but can pay much more when it does, so your balance swings up and down. Blibzz Slots and Lantern Deep have almost the same RTP (96.06% and 96.00%), but Blibzz Slots is medium volatility and Lantern Deep is high: on Lantern Deep you'll see longer quiet stretches, and then a free-spin round that can pay up to 5,000× the bet.

In games where you make choices, the RTP depends on how you play. Vegas Blackjack returns around 99.6% with basic strategy, and less if you play by hunch. In Mines, Plinko and Crash the return changes a little with the settings you pick, which is why their pages show a range.

A few things never change the odds on Blibzz: your level, your rank, coin boosts and how long you've been playing. Every result is decided by the Blibzz server when you play, and past results have no effect on the next one. A slot that hasn't paid for a while isn't "due", and a roulette wheel has no memory of the last red.

You'll find every game's RTP, volatility and exact prize odds on our Odds page. They're there so you always know what you're playing.
