How to play Roulette

Roulette is the simplest table game there is: put your chips where you think the ball will land, then watch it drop on a fully modelled 3D wheel. Before you sit down you pick the European wheel, with 37 pockets and a single zero, or the American wheel, with 38 pockets and both a zero and a double zero. Up to five bots can join you, or you can play on your own.

The aim

Bet on where the ball will land: a single number from 1 to 36, the green zero (and 00 on the American wheel), or a group of numbers such as red, odd or a dozen.

The fewer numbers a bet covers, the more it pays when it wins and the less often it does. A winning bet is paid and also gets its own stake back.

Bets and payouts

Inside bets go on the numbers themselves. Outside bets go on the boxes around them. Zero and double zero lose every outside bet.

  • Straight up (one number): 35 to 1
  • Split (two numbers side by side): 17 to 1
  • Street (a row of three): 11 to 1
  • Corner (four numbers): 8 to 1
  • Six line (two rows): 5 to 1
  • American table only, top line (0, 00, 1, 2, 3): 6 to 1
  • Dozen or column: 2 to 1
  • Red or black, odd or even, 1 to 18 or 19 to 36: 1 to 1

Placing bets

Pick a chip from the tray, then tap the felt. Tap the middle of a number for a straight-up bet, the line between two numbers for a split, and a crossing of lines for a corner. Tap the outer line under a row of three for a street, and between two of them for a six line.

Each table has a smallest chip and a limit per spot: Starter 1 to 100, Regular 5 to 250, High Roller 25 to 1,000 and VIP 100 to 5,000.

Using the controls

Undo takes back your last chip, Clear takes back all of them, Repeat places last spin's bets again and Double doubles them.

On your own there's no clock: tap Spin when you're ready. With other players you have 20 seconds to bet. Tap Confirm when you're done, and the wheel spins once everyone has confirmed or the time runs out.

Free Roulette spins from the Fortune Wheel or a chest show on the gold gift button. Tap it while bets are open and you get 500 coins of free chips (or the table minimum, if that's higher), marked FREE. You keep anything they win; the free stake itself goes back to the house. Cancel or leave before the spin and the free spin stays in your rewards.

Tips

  • Choose the European wheel when you can. Its single zero gives the house an edge of 2.7%, against 5.3% on the American wheel.
  • The house edge means your coins drift down over time, whatever you bet on. No pattern or betting system changes the odds of the next spin.
  • On the American table, the top line has the biggest house edge of any bet, at about 7.9%.
  • Outside bets win about half the time and keep a session going longer. Straight-up numbers win rarely but pay big.
  • Play 50 spins and Roulette Royale gives you 10 free Roulette spins, once, if you're logged in.
