How to play Mine Sniffer
Mine Sniffer is a Blibzz Original: Blib has to cross a path of 20 floating tiles, and one of them hides a mine. Step one tile at a time, or leap two once a round, and every safe landing raises your multiplier. Cash out whenever you like after your first move, or win the whole path for the mode's top prize: 19.40× in Blind Walk, 18.43× in Peek or 16.49× in Scout. Over time every way of playing returns 97%.
The aim
The Blibzz server hides the mine under one of the 20 tiles before your first move. Get as far as you dare, then cash out to take your bet times the multiplier. Land on the mine and the bet is lost.
You win the whole path, and the top prize, as soon as the mine can't hurt you any more: when no unknown tile is left ahead of Blib, or when only one unknown tile is left, because that one must be the mine.
The three modes
The mode decides how much you know before you start. Peek is picked for you the first time; tap another mode, or press 1, 2 or 3, to change it between rounds. Every tile a mode shows you is genuinely safe.
- Blind Walk: no clues, 20 unknown tiles. Top prize 19.40×, won 1 round in 20.
- Peek: one safe tile shown, 19 unknown. Top prize 18.43×, won 1 round in 19.
- Scout: three safe tiles shown, 17 unknown. Top prize 16.49×, won 1 round in 17.
Step, Leap and the multiplier
Step moves Blib one tile. Leap moves him two, and you can leap once a round; after that the button says Used. Only the tile he lands on counts. The tile he leaps over stays unknown, so the mine might be behind you.
Each safe landing on an unknown tile raises the multiplier. Landing on a tile you've been shown is a free move: you go forward and the multiplier stays the same. Each button shows the tile it lands on and what the round is worth if that landing is safe.
The multiplier is 97% × U ÷ (U − k), rounded down to the cent, where U is the number of unknown tiles at the start and k your safe landings. Early landings carry little risk, so they pay little; it climbs fastest near the end. In Peek:
- 1 safe landing: 1.02× (you get there 94.7% of the time)
- 5 safe landings: 1.31× (73.7%)
- 10 safe landings: 2.04× (47.4%)
- 15 safe landings: 4.60× (21.1%)
- The whole path: 18.43× (5.3%, 1 in 19)
Using the controls
Between rounds, choose a mode and your bet, then tap Start. Type any bet into the field, or use ½ and 2× to halve or double it. Bets start at 1 coin and go up to whatever you have.
In a round, tap Step, Leap or Cash out. Cash out shows what you'd take and works after your first move. On a computer: → Step, ↑ Leap, C Cash out, 1 to 3 picks the mode, Enter starts.
If you leave mid-round, it's cashed out at its current value. Leave before your first move and your bet comes back.
Every round is sealed before you move: a SHA-256 fingerprint of the mine's tile, the clues and a secret salt. When the round ends the mine and the salt are shown, and the game checks the seal. Menu, then Fairness, shows the details.
Tips
- Every way of playing returns 97% over time, so about 3 coins of every 100 bet stay with the house. Stepping, leaping and cashing out early or late don't change that.
- The Leap skips a tile without checking it. It doesn't change the odds; it just decides which tile you skip.
- Blind Walk pays the most for a whole path, and Scout's clues make the walk calmer. Each whole path is a long shot: 1 round in 20, 19 or 17.
- Pick a bet that gives you plenty of rounds, and bank a few small wins before you go for a long walk.
- The mine is placed before your first move. Tapping faster or slower changes nothing.
